J Dilla "Take Notice" - the 60 piece orchestral refix.

Late pass. Shamefully I added this magical piece to last week's We Love download and have only just gotten around to writing about it. Anyone who reads this blog knows that a large chunk of my heart wishes it was in LA right now witnessing the Mochilla/ Art Don't Sleep/ Plug Research movement as it unfolds. I'd be happy just to make the tea. Another wonderful piece of footage from the landmark Timeless series.
Timeless describes moments outside of time— moments that exist so deep inside history that they break through that finite grid. Timeless: The Composer/Arranger Series is an homage to the composer-arrangers that have influenced hip-hop in the most literal and profound ways.
As you know Take Notice featured on J.Dilla's Ruff Draft, and the incredible Miguel Atwood-Ferguson composed and arranged the version in this video for the 60 piece orchestra as part of the second Timeless concert "A Suite For Ma Dukes". It was mixed and mastered by legendary Grammy award-winning producer/mixer Bob Power. At first it reminds me of Le Sacre du Printemps then dives in to a 70s cop show - that description sounds terrible but it is the exact opposite.

Download here, watch below.

The Timeless concerts box set will be released on 30th March 2010. It's my birthday on the 25th March - very subtle hint.
