Watch: Jose James "Facing East" The Music of John Coltrane + Other jazz news

The lovely Noah sent me a link to the concert above and I'm so pleased to post it. Any problems you can watch it in full here. This performance was on John Coltrane's birthday (23rd Sept), he would have been 85. You can actually catch this show in London this Monday 28th September at Ronnie Scotts - buy tickets HERE. Just in case that wasn't enough Jose for you, I don't think I posted the K-swiss ad he did with the title track from his forthcoming album Black Magic, which I have lonnnng had on repeat...

In other jazz news, the line up for the London Jazz Festival 2009 has just been announced and it's pretty impressive. Our beloved Robert Glasper (did you catch our full stream of his new album Double Booked?)  is on the bill, and will be performing at the Southbank (QEH) on Nov 15th (buy tickets for that show HERE), supposedly with Bilal who isn't mentioned on the SB site but is, just, on the London Jazz Fest site...
Hip hop-influenced pianist Glasper follows the likes of McCoy Tyner and Herbie Hancock as the Blue Note label’s latest piano star to push the classic trio format into uncharted territory. A loose-limbed and expressive soloist, Glasper incorporates fractured and insistent melodic loops in his heavily rhythmic style. Tonight he is joined by regular collaborator and hip hop star Bilal.
All very irregular. Anyway, lastly Freddie Joachim has made another EP available for download - we posted Nights Alone a while back and I still listen to it on a Sunday morning.

I go now, to stroke my beard.
